Str in six-pack

If you are a fan of the latest fad of six pack abs, STR aka Simbu has got something to enthrall you. For the actor will be seen with a toned body in ‘Osthi’, a remake of Salman Khan’s blockbuster ‘Dabangg’.
“Since Simbu is doing the role of a police offer in this Dharani directed movie, he has developed six pack abs by working hard in a gym for more than a month. He looks so tough now,” say sources in the know.
STR is busy working in three films simultaneously, ‘Osthi’, ‘Podaa Podi’ and ‘Vettai Mannan’. “While Osthi and Vettai Mannan are commercial movies with enough scope for action, Podaa Podi is a breezy love story,” add sources.
In the meantime, Simbu is giving ‘valuable inputs’ to his younger brother Kuralarasan aka KTR, who is set to making his acting debut soon. “STR is the friend, philosopher and guide for KTR,” according to circles close to the family.

STR thrilled about Gautham’s Next – IndiaGlitz

Guess why? Because Gautham Vasudev Menon, who helped the actor change his image with ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’, as we had earlier reported, has approached him to do a movie again, that is expected to go on floors next year.
However, contrary to earlier reports Simbu does not confirm that it is ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ sequel, but maintains they havent yet zeroed in on the script. We must remember that it was he who had given interview to a daily, a few days back, confirming on the sequel, but things seems to be unsure now, in terms of the script.
“I am not sure whether it is a sequel to ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ or a totally different script. But I am happy to join hands with Gautham Menon again,” says Simbu, who is currently busy with at least three projects.
Heaping laurels on the director, he says, “Gautham knows the pulse of the youngsters well. The way he presents a love story is something different and extraordinary. And it was visible in ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’.”
Working simultaneously for ‘Vettai Mannan’, ‘Podaa Podi’ and ‘Osthi’, Simbu says, “I am happy to bag interesting and promising projects. I want to show some difference and improvement in each film of mine.”

of a man who loves a woman older than him.

He can write scripts, pen lyrics, handle cameras, direct,
act, sing, dance- did we leave anything out? STR must
be the only actor, as young as this to have done this all
in such a short span of time and been successful at it too.
Who wouldn’t like a young all-rounder!

* TOP 36 ACHIEVERS IN 2010 :-

STR and THRISHA Selected as one of the Achievers in
the Year 2010. “STR” – He is the Young Super Star to his fans.
If energy and youthful exuberance was STR’s USPs, 2010
changed him for good. VTV happened and Karthik was liked
and talked about for a long long time. His mellowed performance
changed his image completely and got appreciations from all corners.
By the way 2010 was the year when he changed his name to STR.

Selected in the 2nd Place for Top 20 Album of the Year 2010.
Rahman’s fans missed him dearly in 2009, when he was
busy with Bollywood and international assignments.
Least to say he was back with a bang with his first
Tamil album of 2010, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.
A treat to music lovers, VTV’s songs like Hosanna,
Anbil Avan and Aaromale were simply outstanding and
are still aired quite frequently on radio and television.
This is the movie where Rahman introduced the ‘Blues’
genre to Tamil cinema with the song Aaromale.

STR Selected as 5th Place in Top 10 Tamil Cinema Dancers.
We knew him right from the day he was introduced
to the public as a child artist in Oru Thayin Sabhatham.
We even saw him dance at a tender age in a couple of movies.
After his debut as a full- fledged actor, he has risen above all
to become one of the finest dancers in the Tamil industry.
The multi-talented actor has revealed that he can excel in
all forms of dancing. His dancing skills in Dum, Kuthu,
Manmadhan and Saravana were a rage among youngsters.
So was the ‘En Aasai Mythiliye’ song in Manmadhan
and ‘Yammadi Aathadi’ song in Vallavan.
It was Silambattam which actually showcased his talent
in full light. ‘Nallamdhana’, ‘Vechikkava (Remix)’ and
‘Where is the Party’ are finest examples of what this super
talent is made up of. Even in a toned down character in VTV,
Simbhu showed his dancing brilliance in Rahman’s compositions.

STR Selected in 9th Place for Current Top 20 Actors
in Tamil Cinema. If STR was seen on the silver screen
mostly as an angry youngster or as an action hero,
VTV changed this completely. Karthik and Jesse scripted
a new chapter of love in Kollywood and showcased STR
as a subtle actor. Busy ever since, he would be
thrilled with his forthcoming releases Poda Podi and
Vettai Mannan.

Simbu on a roll and all set to woo Amy – DC

For all you fans of the hit musical, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, here’s some good news. The team that gave us the 2010 blockbuster is coming together again for the sequel to the Simbu-Trisha starrer. Speaking exclusively to DC, STR says, “I am thrilled. The sequel will be titled Vinnaithaandi Varuvein. When we were shooting the climax for VTV, Gautham and I joked about a sequel to the film. After that I got busy with other commitments and suddenly Gautham came up with the idea of a sequel and I couldn’t be more delighted.”

The actor who has his hands full with Osthi, Poda Podi, Vettai Mannan, can’t wait to start work on the new project. So will we see Trisha reprise her role as Jessie? The actor answers, “While I will be playing Karthik again, this time Amy Jackson will play the female lead.” Amy is also slotted to play the female lead in the Hindi remake of the original, alongside Prateik Babbar. However, the two films will not be shot simultaneously and shooting for the Tamil sequel will start only in November, when Simbu will be done with his other projects.

VTV 2 that is slated for a summer release in 2012 will also have Santhanam in a major role, while VTV Ganesh is also part of the star cast. While VTV received attention for being a beautiful love story, the sequel, says Simbu, won’t be much of a romantic tearjerker. “The sequel is going to be an action film. I am sure fans will love it,” he says. So will Karthik be victor in love this time around? Simbu answers, “The script is in place, but the climax hasn’t been finalised as yet. But I do hope that Karthik walks into the sunset with his lady love.”
Simbu, who has in the recent past made a conscious effort to play a variety of roles, is happy with the way his career is shaping up.

Quiz him on the mixed reactions that Vaanam received and trade pundits dubbing it an average grosser, Simbu says, “ Vaanam gave my career a big boost. For me it’s no longer about giving a commercial hit. I look for audience appreciation and every effort I make is to ensure that they love me in the role. My fans loved Cable Raja. I want to keep my fans happy and not score one blockbuster hit after another.”

About juggling more than four productions simultaneously, Simbu says, “I’ve never worked like this before. Earlier, I would complete a film and only then take on another project. I understand that a number of directors want to work with me and I am doing my best to accommodate them. I don’t want to miss out on any opportunity. People want to see me on the silver screen and I shall fulfill that wish.”

With his career going great guns, is the 25-year-old Simbu looking to settle down? He laughs, “My mother wants me to get married. But honestly I am happy being single. My work keeps me busy and I am enjoying the status quo.” So will the coveted bachelor wait for love? “I can’t possibly be scouting for love. If it (love) happens, I will certainly pursue it,” he smiles with a glint in his eye.
